Thank you. I was unable to get the USB creation to work until I saw your video and doing the creation from the backup window instead of downloading the creation tool directly. I followed your instructions and it worked first time.

Great video .- thanks - helped a lot.

I have Windows 8, 10 and 11 on my network and I'm backing up all of the machines to my NAS. I have created a recovery USB for one of my Windows 11 computers. Do I need to make a recovery USB for each of the machines, for each distinct operating system, or would a single recovery USB be enough to bare metal restore any of the computers on my network?

Great video TMO. However, including the details of your VM adds a bit of confusion because 99+% of viewers will not have this. But, still worth watching several times just to burn this procedure into our brain cells. One detail that escaped me with all of the videos that I watched on this topic is that just a single recovery media is needed regardless of how many computers are using ABB; I originally thought that a separate recovery media was required for each PC. But, that's just me.

Just what I was looking for. Unfortunately mine did not work. There appears to be a long standing issue where the created flash drive won't load the files or will hang indefinitely. Mine gets stuck on "loading operating system" when trying to boot from the flash drive. I've had similar issues with Linux Mint. Oddly my windows 10 pro boot flash drive does not have this problem. Wish I knew what was technically wrong.

Great video! Does each Windows 10 PC need to have its own restore media made for it or can one restore media be used for all PCs backed up with active backup for business?

Thanks for your video, exactly what I was looking for! The only question is that do you need to create ISO media for each PC that is to be backed up, or only one ISO is required, we can use the same ISO to restore different PC as long as there are backup in NAS? Thanks!

Is there any difference on restoring a Windows 10 workstation compared to a Windows 11 workstation? I run Windows 11 and my wife has Windows 10, I have backed up her computer to the Synology DS1621+ and I wanted to create the restoral media but my workstation is running Windows 11, do I need to create a recovery disk on a computer running Windows 10 since that is the OS on my wifes computer or will the Restoral media work with Windows 10 and Windows 11? I like the detail you do in your videos.. thanks again Jim

I plan to use this method to restore my C: volume to a RAID0 supported by my motherboard. Will Active Backup for Business see this volume? I didn't see the option to load the ASUS RAID DRIVERS in this tutorial.

Nice video. I think though it leaves out one vital part for many/most people who are looking for information to restore an actual hardware computer, and that is the network-connectivity. Your guide assumes that the computer being restored to will have network connectivity to the Synology NAS where the ABB recovery images are stored. In my case it's a laptop relies on WiFi to connect to the NAS. There are no WiFi drivers in the default installation of the recovery tool. Only ethernet.

Hi and thank you for the video! Which are really the important components on Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit? And is it possible to use recovery flash made on one PC with another PC?

Currently for Worst Case Scenario in which machine is completely trashed, motherboard not working type deal, I still use Aomei Backupper Professional, and backup just my system drive to Syno network share, I used to use this for all my drives but not use active backup for all drives besides system drives, the reason for this is I have tried and tested Aoemi Backupper many times with success, with their "System Image" option, you can even restore to completely different hardware (i.e. new motherboard/amd/intel swap) without issue, as it removes all device specific drivers and replaces with generic windows drivers to create an image that can used to restore to any other machine. Is the baremetal restore that synology offers capable of restoring the System drive with everything installed to different hardware (i.e. motherboard/processor swap)?
