As a little boy The little Mermaid was my all time favorite Movie ever.For 10 years, Ariel was always the one Disney Princess who I always wanted to Marrry.I had The Film, The Soundtrack, Books, Toy Figures, Ariel Barbie dolls and Ariel Necklaces.Above all meeting Ariel in her Grotto was always my favorite part of visiting Disneyland and Disney World because I have always loved to believe Ariel to be the most beautiful female character in animation history.

I'm a grown man who knows the lyrics to this song by heart. Every. Single. Word.
Not by choice, mind you. That's what you get from babysitting your two younger sisters, who loved nothing more than to pop in The Little Mermaid DVD & watch it on repeat. I must have watched the damn thing at least a thousand times back in the early 90s. I can even recite all the lines from the movie, beginning to end 😂
I've seen several other princess-themed Disney films & all i can say is that The Little Mermaid, by far, is the best of the bunch.

I don’t care what anyone tells me, Jodi Benson will always be the true Ariel. No disrespect at all to Halle Berry because she was absolutely amazing in the live action. But you can’t tell me the live action Ariel is the OG’ Ariel from 89’. Nothing beats the original movie. Jodi Benson will always be the definitive Ariel!

The sonic experience of the original Soundtrack of 1989 The Little Mermaid had impossibly high standards, even if today the movie is famous thanks to the characters and animated visuals, you could imagine the same voices and music giving birth to yet another superior movie with even better visuals.
Taking away this song from the movie and hearing it without context in a music video is a clear revelation.
The song expresses an intense longing that doesn’t even belong in a children’s movie. Feelings of captivity under the sea and Ariel being trapped in her life resonate like the most intense hopeless tragedies. The song is potent and foreign, otherworldly and dramatic.
Jodi’s voice does not sound human, it has a pristine almost metallic sound which would most possibly belong to a foreign mythical creature.
The song is so powerful that it is a joke that this form of art would lead to selling plastic dolls, VHS, and theme park tickets.
In the future when Disney’s commercialism hype dies down, Howard and Jodi will stand as musical legends on another unheard level.

There are teachers who try and make women with this tone permanently change... Some teachers want every woman to have the deep tones of Mariah, Whitney, Celine, Regina, Christina...they won't let you sing unless your tone is like deep like theirs....There's a tone the voice has as it's most beautiful setting, it's that one vocal teachers should always encourage their students to use.... audiences don't want to hear anything less.

I love both Jodi and Halle's versions of Part of Your World. They both capture different facets of Ariel and its hard to choose which one I love the best. Actually I don't even want to choose. Jodi's version captures Ariel's wistfullness and Halle's version captures Ariel's determination. Both are incredible relatable.

Jodi's version with always be my childhood and her voice is still perfection.
