There's just something weird about human spaces being in places impossible for humans to build them. The Backrooms always reminds me of a Star Trek TNG episode that always scared me, "Where Silence Has Lease". An alien creature is experimenting with the crew and a copy of the USS Yamato pulls up. When they beam over, it's insanely creepy. It's clearly a bad replica of what the ship should be and everything is in the wrong place. It becomes an almost "hall of mirrors" or shifting maze environment where Riker and Worf are shaken by this place that clearly cannot exist.
