The Muhammad mentioned by John of Damascus is not the Muhammad of the Muslims in Arabia, but this individual being talked about is a man up in Damascus who is an Ishmaelite. Abdul Malik is part of this anti-trinitarian group of Ishmaelites attacking the prophetic line of Isaac, and thus begins to create a revelation to be for the Ishmaelites. There's a whole chapter based on an obvious impossibility, the chapter is even named with the subject of the impossibility, Al-Anam, The Cattle, or more appropriately, the Magic Sand Eating Desert Cattle. They were all worried about finding the right color cows to sacrifice at the base of Mt Sinai when they should have been more concerned about how they were going to find a cow in the desert at all, especially considering they were supposedly relying on manna, an exudate of the Tamarisk tree in the Sinai, which no human could live on because it's almost pure mannitol, a sweet tasting non-food with zero nutritional value but a popular baby laxative. I guess it was sort of an inside joke to the authors of Exodus, "let's say they had to eat a laxative, because nobody but a few people will ever know what we're talking about, haha". Okay, Exodus authors, you got us, good for you, though very juvenile, you must have been a barrel of laughs in college. So apparently Allah read Exodus and didn't have the brains to recognize the obvious fact that cattle can't live on sand or laxative.
