ICC arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin is justified, says Joe Biden

The US president has welcomed the international criminal court's decision to charge Vladimir Putin.

Speaking to reporters as he left the White House for his Delaware home, Biden said the Russian president had 'clearly committed war crimes'. The ICC decision, for allegations Putin has overseen the abduction of Ukrainian children, marks the first time the court has issued a warrant against one of the five permanent members of the UN security council.

I like how Biden emphasises the “it’s not internationally recognised by us either.” Because if it was, then Bush, Obama, Blair and Biden would all be serving lifetime sentences in The Hague.

What is the point in asking a US President (or Resident in this case) about the operation of the ICC when America isn't a signatory for the very simple reason that most US Presidents would have been incarcerated if they were subject to ICC rulings - assuming that nobody had their palms crossed with silver of course....
