I recall watching a multi-part series from a YouTuber I like when he took a 6-month trip to Vietnam with some of his friends. He took tons of fantastic pictures throughout the videos and he was telling his stories. It made me realize how far Vietnam has come the past two decades. So many buildings were being actively built, there were luxury goods, low prices, many people appeared to be in high spirits. I mean just looking at some basic economic statistics for Vietnam seems to indicate they're going through a boom, some kinda economic miracle. Their unemployment rate has stayed under 5%, their inflation rate has stayed under 5%, their GDP growth has been 6-7% per year for over 20 years not including COVID. It does appear to be consistent growth. I heard they could pass Singapore in economic might soon and I think that's really impressive. Honestly if it wasn't for the influence of its neighbor China, I'd consider the growth of Vietnam to be a perfect storm. Seems that Vietnam's idea of market socialism (that's what they call their economic model) is working quite well for them.

Can't wait for the debates (sic Rob Norr) about how this isn't because of Trump or Biden but China own policies
