Small correction and addition. The sons of Kartavirya, they saw the old man meditating, decided to chop his head off, and put dead snake skin all over the headless body and basically desecrated the dead body to quench their anger and show the wrath.

This is why parashuram got angered. He continued to hunt Kshatriyas until he met Raamachandra.

The main correction in your story is, Indian system had 4 classes they were in a cycle. Not in a pyramid. This whole pyramid construction was done by Britishers and others. Nobody is higher than anyone. Brahmanas were considered holy because of their sincerity to education and ascetic lifestyle. Kshatriyas were the rulers as well as warriors. Not all warriors got the respect of a King.

The Kshatriya Kings were rulers and thus were high in the social life.

Even then if you had money, power, position, status you were respected more.

However it was not because of the class you belonged to. Please note, nowhere in these stories a mention of 'caste' comes. Because caste is a consequence of many years of livelihood and life choices which the people made much later in life.

Varnas or Classes were completely based on job preferences whichever the candidate chooses after education or whenever they chose a profession.

I am a Khsatriya, and we worship kartyavirya Maharaj, we also call him SahastraArjun Maharaj because of his thousand hands.
When bhagwan Parshuram was killing Kshatriyas then bhagwan Ram told Parshuram bhagwan "by killing all Kshatriyas you yourself have become a Khsatriya" as only Khsatriyas were supposed to fight.
Then he realised his mistake and dropped his weapon, Parshu.
