That last wave sounded like a bomb ... gives you an idea of how much force these incredible walls of water can exert on the hull of a ship ...

As a fisherman myself I can tell you the camera never does it justice, it’s always worse than it looks.

Former fisherman here, had similar experience off the east coast of Australia.
We were on a 53 metre (170 ft) vessel with 17 crew.
No idea of the size of the wave that hit us but it completely caved in the wheel house shearing the footing bolts across the whole front of the wheelhouse from the foredeck.
Navy came and rescued us.
Respect the sea, respect the men and women who work it.

Credit to the welders that welded that vessel!

This makes me wonder what the sailors in 16th century had to go through with wooden ships and no weather forecast!
Hats off to them!!

I'm surprised the ship even floated with the weight of the crew's massive balls

Captain: Laughs calmly
Newbie: "Captain, why are you laughing?"
Captain: "have you ever heard about a beautiful death?"
Newbie: "Wut?"

Imagine the old Scandinavian and German-Hanseatic seamen in their wooden ships back in the days...

Anytime you hear a crew member on the bridge say "oh shit" you know it's going to get very interesting.

I've got so much respect for pilots and captains and the knowledge they have to know how to navigate this stuff and avoid direct slams like that. It CAN'T be anything close to easy.

The fine line between watching this video from the comfort of my bedroom and actually imagining myself being on that f’king deck is to freakin’ thin for me…

Now I understand why ancient novelists used to praise their vessels so much 🔥🔥

Respect!
Credit to all engineers who designed that ship and to all builders who built it without forgetting a single bolt or a weld
