This video touched my heart particularly because I have owned not one but four DLINK NAS systems so far and they have all failed or are failing as I write. I don't know why I spent my good money on them but the alternatives were too expensive I guess. Heat dissipation and current control are a problem in these devices and may be the reason why they all fail eventually. I wonder why DLINK is not building more reliable gear so that they continue to keep loyal customers? Anyway cheers and hope you land on a better NAS. I just installed OMV on an old PC and it's a screamer!

I'm thinking of modifying my DLink DNS-320 in a very similar way to this.
Did you find it improved the performance at all?

It seems that D-Link applied planned obsolescence technique in this device. Problem with temp sensor prevents device from booting.

D-Link DNS 320Lw 149 € for 2 years of bugs and poor performance. Failure (flashing blue LED) just after the end of the warranty.
Synology DS214 + 349 € has been working perfectly for 6 years and I have no plans to replace it yet.

D-Link DNS 320Lw 149€ pour 2 ans de bugs et médiocres performances. Panne (led bleue clignotante) juste après la fin de garantie.
Synology DS214+ 349€ fonctionne parfaitement depuis 6 ans et je ne prévoit pas encore de le remplacer.
