USAA is a specialty bank that exclusively does business with active duty, guard, and reserve military members, veterans, and their family members. I have been using their services for three years and am satisfied with my banking experience. I have a checking account, a ROTH IRA, car insurance, and renters insurance with them.

However, I only recently learned the differences between their credit card offers, and I realized I was not using the best credit card for me.

USAA's website:

Sup man. I've been active duty air force for about a year now, building my credit and doing financial research along the way. I just reached my credit limit increase benchmark on my discover it secured card so I'm now ready for my first real credit card and this video helped a lot. Thank you!

This was very informative! As non-drivers who pay off the balance each month, my fiancé and I will stick with our Preferred Cash Rewards cards. Cheers!

I want to say that the Cashback Plus Amex is relatively new..having launched in late 2016 early 2017. It replaced a similar but less rewarding version. I was lucky enough to snag the Limitless Cash Rewards Visa card with 2.5% cash back. I love that card! Hopefully you are also a member of Navy Federal. Their Platinum card has an APR as low as 8.24% easily beating the USAA Rate Advantage.

Do you think you could do a comparison between Navy Federal and USAA? Which bank do you think is better? As far as a checking account is concerned for someone lacking in the financial know how. I've banked with Wells Fargo since 2014 and considering switching is a little overwhelming to be honest lol. I greatly enjoy and appreciate the simple breakdown of your knowledge on otherwise very complicated subjects.

2 Questions:
1) What happens if I get out with these cards? Should I cancel them or will I just be stuck with the annual fees?
2) What's a good way for a young (frugal) service member to meet those minimum spend requirements, with our expenses being so low?

Visa signature is very good but the best multiplier is the amex cashback card

I think USAA needs a more generous AMEX Travel/Rewards Card. Maybe even an airline co-brand. They also need to try to go to Metal cards. My Debit has had card cracks. I have had to replace my Debit several times. Plus, peeling labels, separating at the edge on my Limitless Cashback Rewards Visa.

Snagged the USAA "Limitless Cashback Rewards" card a few years back that is unlimited 2.5% cash back with a $1k direct deposit. Didn't realize how great that was when I initially got it. Seems like they no longer offer it since it's not on their website.

Over the past 5 years I continue to move away from USAA products. Their savings account rates are a joke. They offer no HELOCs or PLOCs. 1.5% cash back cards are hardly competitive. They sold all there investments to Schwab (an ok move but vangard and fidelity are better). I wrote to them begging them to update. They have yet to do so and now it is time to move on.

Which card would you recommend for a “beginner “ to use as a gas card?

I still think AMEX Everyday cash is the best. Low APR and cash back. I would like to see a card on flexible spending options.
