The Wausau Group | History Speaks

For this History Speaks presentation, guest Erick Konop attempts to answer the surprisingly difficult question, who were the Wausau Group?

According to the histories a group of lumbermen in Wausau made the decision to stay in Northcentral Wisconsin despite the decline of the lumber industry, and to invest their wealth back into the community where they made their home. At least that's the story told about the Wausau Group over the last 50 years or so. But is it actually what happened? And who exactly where the members of the Wausau Group?

Most of this was filmed during a presentation given at the Woodson History Center in Wausau on April 23rd. Despite some difficulties with the recording equipment (such as the camera slightly off center) most of the presentation was captured here. And we later sat down to cover the area that didn't get recorded live.
