Dollar Cost Averaging seems extremely straight forward but surely something so simple can’t be that effective right? If it was so easy, why wouldn’t everyone be doing it?

When I started out, I found the investing world daunting and researched a lot of to make sure I was giving myself the best possible chance of making money. This is when I landed on Dollar Cost Averaging and I personally wish I could have seen a video on the result of the strategy from someone else so I guess this is a video to my past self. Was I making a massive mistake? Or was I onto a winner from the start?

So in this video, I want to show you some real-life profits from the investing strategy of Dollar Cost Averaging, the strategy I have been using for 3 years now.

Great honest video. I’m so glad there is someone who doesn’t pretend to make x10 returns every month. Keep them coming!

This is a video that people interested in DCA need to watch. Great video as always. Thanks for the shout out!

Dollar cost averaging is always interesting to me. All it really does is smooth bumps because if you think over an infinite period of time, the market goes up, then the maths would tell you to get as much in as possible as early as possible - anything else means money is left on the table. Good video 👍🙂

Good video, and I think it captures the major benefit of DCA. It is always easy to look back and think, oh I could have timed it at that point. But no one can do that. Knowledge isn't free, and neither is risk. DCA mitigates the costs of knowledge and risk, which people too often forgot about in trying to "time" their purchases.

Congrats on your profits, may they continue!

Hey Nick, great content as always! You know i totally agree on this and hope to just stay the coarse every month, failing that I’m still not touching it for the next 15 plus years. 👍

Great video Nick. It's the best strategy for the majority of savers.

Trying to time the market isn't my style. I don't have that many active brain cells left, Lol. Your spreadsheet really opened my eyes. I can't believe the spread was so low. You can DCA daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or even yearly. DCA protects us from our own emotions.

I put on lump sum with the intention of leaving it, essentially I've accepted it is no longer money I have.

"If it was so easy, why wouldn’t everyone be doing it?" Because there are too many people who want to make a lot of money in a short amount of time (with disastrous results). DCA requires patience and patience is the greatest virtue in investing. Going to a casino is not

When you've got a bonus from work have you just added it as an extra lump sum or used it to increase monthly payments (spread it out)? I get overtime bonus every few months and wondering what's best to be DCA

Hey Nick, love you vids man!

I have been DCAing for over a year now. I live abroad and the broker I’m currently using does not have the option to transfer shares. I am looking to move to the UK in October of this year and thought it would make sense to sell and open an ISA with Vanguard. I DCA weekly and have cash in the app for up until end of September. What do you think about just dumping the remaining weeks now instead of continuing to DCA as investing, say in September, would not make much sense if you are going to sell within a few weeks.

Again, great content! :)

Great vid! Now you've increased it from £400, have you considered splitting your monthly direct debit into 2 (or more) DDs staggered over the month? (On the 10th & 25th for example) any benefit to it more accurately following the fund price fluctuations? .... I'm one of those people that kinda DCAs but with scope to put extra in if/when there's a dip. Cheers

Great video and I really appreciate you sharing the performance of your Vanguard fund. Really inspiring and very impressive. I'd be really interested to hear how you chose this fund? I opened a Vanguard ISA about 6 months ago and I split my deposits between two funds (Global Balanced and Life Strategy Equity). Any advice on how to go about choosing funds?

It seems like the market has recovered from the mini crash from inflation and now my VWRL I bought on the crash is looking handsome

This is a bit of stupid question but I'm going to ask it anyway! When you were looking into dollar cost averaging, historically is there any 'best' time of the month to invest into the US market? I know you are in VWRL however the 25th of each month seems to have done you well - I might do the same!

How do you determine your current profit margin if you have been buying weekly for 2 years at different prices? I can't seem to ever get an answer to this question. I'm just using my highest purchase price as my price to base my margin on but I know it's not accurate
