What made Jon great was the fact that he started as a 3rd tier character…but as the deck continued to shuffle, he rose higher and higher, gaining more and more depth and credibility as the show went on. The viewer grew with him and saw him go from nothing to something without even knowing what they were witnessing until much later. Obviously, the end was stupid but I try not to think about that lol

I totally agree, he is one of the best-written modern heroes of all time. He is like a tragic Greek hero, who always does the right thing no matter the cost. Willing to sacrifice not only his own life but more importantly his love to do what duties call him to do. I think some really strong people can sacrifice themself for duty and honor but only less than 1% have the ability to sacrifice their love to do what is right. This is GOD tier hero stuff we are talking about. Really well-written character.

Sansa kept information from Jon before the “BoB” that could have helped Jon strategize better, would that have changed him desperately trying to save Rickon by charging out on to the field alone? Probably not, but the battle itself could have been stalled until the Knights of the Vale arrived… that almost killed Jon and any hopes of reclaiming Winterfell. But after this almost-fiasco Sansa became more bearable as a character, for me at least.

ALSO: the scene where Jon unified the North by having young Lady Karthstark and child Lord Umber join back into the fold. AFTER Sansa pretty much suggested punishing children for the sins of the fathers… that little speech: “Yesterday’s battles don’t matter anymore. The North needs to band together, all the LIVING NORTH!”. Man, that was epic!

Epic man, is always good to remember that Jon is truly a great hero
despite the whole flaming trainwreck that was that nearly useless season 8..
GoT and jon deserve a true remake of the whole series made by the true fans, and a good animated series Castlevania/ Berserk style should do justice Martin's true vision
