Please don't use this as a portfolio project. It is great to learn the basics, but this isn't something a professional would make. This goes for most guides online.

If you want to use this as the foundation for a portfolio project then add some novel features, give it a unique name, add user authentication, give users the ability to interact in real time, create a nice landing page and either provide a test account or Google sign in for the project. If you have your first job in the industry then get a domain for it, add analytics, add an email marketing system, and add something unique to the experience.
