My most memorable experience with my Rolex Submariner (ref. 16613), that I purchased new in 1998 from a USA AD, was when my wife took it to a premier boutique in Switzerland (hint: the one now owned by Rolex) for servicing and she was told that my watch was a fake. The watch inspector at the counter really embarrassed my wife...made her feel like a criminal in front of a handful of other patrons.

In any event, my wife stood her ground and requested that a more experienced staff member review the watch, along with the purchase papers and insurance documents. Of course, that senior expert validated the watch as authentic and had it sent to Geneva for servicing. Eight weeks later, the serviced watch was returned...along with an invoice for $1100.

Seems to me that the so-called "professionals" have a hard time authenticating the real watches, too! Especially the older watches...you know...the ones bought under the assumption that Rolex quality delivered something special over one's lifetime.

That treatment taught me one good lesson...never to buy another Rolex.

It's not just Rolex. I just bought a Bulova Lunar Pilot, the new blue panda. It came in an authentic box with papers. The only way I caught it was that the second hand was just slightly too long. I opened it and it had a lesser Miyota chronograph movement. Luckily, I was able to get my money back.

If a dodgy Chinese replica producer can get the cyclops right on the fake Hulk... you would have thought Seiko could have sorted it out on my Alpinist, given that they started making watches in 1881.

Sunburst can only be detected if comparing it to a real one - Silvery color on the brushing replica because of different steel - Floating m on the replica - In top tier replicas you cannot tell the different date, crown, or rehault. The replica Jenni has its a good one but definitely not the best.

I bought a hulk in 2017 for 6k and sent it back after a week, as it didn't feel like it was worth the money. Superclones make one point very clear and right....gen rolexes ain't worth their prices. Does it make me want a replica? No. But facts are facts.

Thank you for Jenni for making these videos for the majority of people who simply dont wish to be scammed on the grey market. Regarding the minority who seek out these replicas - I would absolutely never buy these clones A) because of longevity concerns but B) more important than the object itself is what that object represents - everything it took for me to put it on my wrist. For example, you could go on ebay or to an antiques shop and buy a war medal. Wearing it would be meaningless. Passing it down to your children and grandchildren would be meaningless too. The only scenario in which i would somewhat respect someone buying a fake would be poor hustlers who are desperately trying to make it, and are betting that they can leverage returns on a high quality timepiece through including it on social media, signalling wealth whilst networking etc. I myself am a poor hustler however and i will never stoop to do this. I want the real war medal on my wrist after ive earned it.

Superclones have only exposed how overpriced genuine watches are these days. I’ll take a 98% accurate rep to the original for $500-$700 instead of $17k or more for a genuine. For that much I can fill up an entire case of the best clones of every brand watch/model I want.
