Yes, Lata's voice is one in a million - no doubt about that. But she was tyrannical in her approach towards the business of securing work and that hurt Indian music industry and many "glowing lamps" as you have correctly mentioned. Even capitalist economies take precautions to not allow monopolies to destroy competition in nefarious ways. There are at-least half-a-dozen other female singers who did and would have brought even more variety to Indian music industry. Even with her magical voice, Lata could not and will never be able to replace them, as those voices are equally magical, yet different in tone, style, melody etc. Indian music is not just about voice, it is also about one's character, and in that aspect she could have done a lot better. Doing so would have inspired so many and she would have become a lot, lot more than a legendary singer.

Some evil people, probably her rivals, competitors even tried to kill her by giving her slow poison through food. But her undying will power succeeded defeating such evil people.

If you ague Lata blew out other the same token we could argue :Rafi blew out Kishore till 1968, as Kishore was getting no work except in his own movies or Dev Anand movies. Naushad started his life with mukesh/shamshad begum, surinder kaur and talat. But when he discovered Lata nd Rafi, he dumped all the others. The fact is if I were making a film and a music director brought in two bit singers for my film...I would sack the director. So it was also the film producers who did not care for lesser singers either! No music director gave up his film to other less fortunate director, no singer gave up his songs to others and no actor gave up their work to others...so why do you think Lata should have done so? I don't send my customers to the shop next door!

She blew out nobody. It is the luck of Indian music industry that she was there, and 2nd raters were always trying to compete with her but never succeeded. Such was her voice and command over sur & taal, and other finer points of music. If you want viewership, there are other ways instead of degrading her.
