Finding the Best ARPG Ever Made: Last Epoch

Last Epoch is the newest big boy ARPG, full of hundreds of affixes, prefixes, suffixes, most kinds of words really. Along with the attempts at complicated and nuanced gameplay, the game is chock full of satisying character development, itemization and combat. Also it's the only game to feature an Eber, so really what is there not to love? So is it possible? Could Last Epoch be the greatest ARPG ever made?

One of the reasons im a big fan of this series is that it sometimes showcases games that I either havent heard of before or heard the name and didnt know it was an arpg. As a fan of this genre having more games brought to my attention is exciting!

Played this for about 250 hours. Best part is the customization, a skill tree for every skill is just nuts. And they're very creative so not just some lazy +10% damage and stuff. As you said, Campaign is not easy mode - you might die from time to time and have to think about what you're doing instead of mashing one button.

Endgame was okay one year ago but it lacked content and getting an item upgrade felt almost impossible with all the RNG to it.

Since then they added this new crafting system, new uniques and new endgame activities, so i can't wait for release and getting back to this game. I hope they can release it before D4 so it might get the attention it deserves.

In terms of complexity i'd rate it similar to Grim Dawn. If you can't get in to PoE as a new player because it's too complex this is the game for you.

I just remembered the Time Travelling Flying Machine (or TTFM) you use in Chrono Trigger is called the "Epoch" by default. I guess the reference is deeper than I thought.
