I never got to play d2 back in the day.
So I purchased it on my PS5 about 3 months ago.
Maybe right before d4 or right after because it was on sale I think.
But it's been absolutely amazing. I have been having more fun on D2 res than I have D4. And that's sad I think.
But man, I'm nowhere near done in D2!
I play d2 res, grim dawn, Poe, and LE and I'm in arpg heaven 😆

"Finding something on one character that makes me want to do another." I'm so glad he said that, talking about LE. I was starting to think I was all alone there. It's so fun to find a unique or high-powered rare that inspires an entire build, and you start theorycrafting immediately. Also, having a couple of characters levelling in parallel that find gear for each other and you keep switching back and forth. So good.

I would only change 2 things on here. Move "last Epoch" to S and "Grim Dawn" to B.

I’m surprised how good Last Epoch is and considering what’s comming in season 2 the hype is real for this game. Decided to give it a try after played POE2 for months and damn it’s amazing!

I always wondered when Ziz will start making tier lists. I would not mind seeing a tierlist for unique items and skill gems.

I skipped it to the end and i'm glad Ziz thinks the same as i do regarding D2, however i would've put D1 also in S Tier (mostly because it was the game that started my journey with the ARPGs) ☺

I think you need to play more Last Epoch Ziz. And WH40:Inq Martyr. And Grim Dawn at D tier? Do you even play arpgs, other than that Stochholme Syndrome PoE game? ;-p

I had such a blast with GD, and have a few thousand hours in it, but it indeed has some flaw that will totally turn players down. The impact as Ziz apready said is one of the biggest of them, and of course the graphic is not good as well. Some deeper aspect as I can say is although the game has sooo many builds, there are not actually a variety of playstyles, most of the builds are just one button spam face tanking (which I love), and one skill can have so many builds but it is still the same skill just with different damage types (and colors), the form of the skill does not chance.

IMO anyone making these tier lists should aim for a standard bell curve distribution, with most games being B/C tier and second most in D and A and the least in S and E tiers

ARPG games have the most confusing fanbase, after years we are getting to eat good and get great options to play, yet everyone is down eachother's throats for enjoying the "incorrect" game

Agree with your Grim Dawn take tbh. I find it very overrated. It's a good ARPG with some interesting ideas but the skills are so boring (and very few of them to boot) and the campaign is just a chore (with few other options for things to do). Itemization is good though.

Couldn't agree more with your d2 comments. I'd give D2R an easy S if it had all of the PD2 QoL

Dungeon siege 1 is in a league of it's own I feel. Since the pauze mechanic it's not really a full action RPG and you never really played a character progressing the story but more a party manager, though it has a lot of action RPG systems. And still one of the best skill/build levelling systems in the game where there is a complete free choice and you are never locked into a "class". Dungeon siege 2 was a completely take all together, while I still liked the game very much, I initially didn't like how much it moved away from DS1. Though in terms of gameplay, fun and mechanics I liked 2 more. I really hope they make a DS 3 someday, but hey maybe they'll make a Diablo 3 some day as well. Who knows when these legendary franchises will continue in the future! Kappa
