Some customers come in with the attitude of. "I've got to be rude and cheat the salesman before he cheats me "

Ben! I was in sales for some 40 years. When you REALLY need to make a sale because of financial reasons the customer can sense that. I also found that sales are much easier to
make when you don't HAVE to make the sale.

I'm not going to feel bad for anyone that complains about making 15 grand in a month. Most blue collar people make three grand a month whether they like it or not.

Sales Manager at a Mid size Toyota dealer here. Most, if not all of these problems can be solved by not relying on new customers only. Working with people you have sold to before is the best way to be busy, make strong income and not having the be at the dealership all of the time.

Focus on you, not other people. Control what you can control. Retail automotive isn’t for everyone. That’s ok. Your experience is the most common from undertrained sales people who cannot seem to focus on themselves and how to be successful.

Dang... there is a lot to deal with selling cars. You name it, you said it. It is not an industry where people are respected. You have experienced it at a young age. I hear you on what you are saying. They play dirty inside dealerships too as you said. You said a lot, but as you said it is not for everyone. It can be rewarding if this is something you desire to do.

I’m a sales rep for Cox Internet and i relate to this so much. People have one bad experience with one Cox person and now the whole company is bad 🤦🏾‍♀️ I would spend almost the end of every month crying

I already work 12 hour shifts as a medic. Car sales at Toyota is definitely a possibility this year since I’m burned out and the pay as a medic is piss poor overall. Usually working 60-72 hours weekly to just make enough money Bi weekly…….. over it

1. hours, if you got nothing better to do its fine. 2. issues with cars? bound to happen and its expected. 3. rude customers? expected in any line of work. 4. fluctuation in pay? anywhere between 2k to 15k a month!?! bruh thats a literal dream. 5. politics? thats in every job ever. so over all i guess the only down side is the long hours, everything else is already expected... so it seems like you just had the wrong expectations going into this sort of job.

Most people dislike going to car dealerships because of the stress. They should do more to relieve that stress, to make them wanna come back.i can't. Stand my local ford dealership, for too many reasons to list here, even so, sometimes you get a sales person you connect with. It's hit or miss.😁

I've heard of some salespeople even coming in on their day off, so as not to miss a potential sale.

Im not in Car sales yet. But I think that not knowing the right people is not a good excuse. I feel like networking is something that can be improved.

Ben, I didn't think your cons of being a salesman was this bad 😅. It's funny, because today I actually went to orientation for my local Chevrolet dealership to be a salesman, and I should've known better since I am in college, and I won't have the time for a full time job. The orientation phase was good, until I met the team I was going to work with: a bunch of elder guys in their mid-life crisis age who had nothing but life stories to go on about. I am 20 years old, I take responsibility for my actions, and if I have to make myself a laughing stock in people's eyes to be the best, so be it! Not taking your cons for granted, but nice video. 👍😎
