Why do the media keep emphasizing that "economists say" tariffs will raise consumer prices? That's not a theory that might be proven or disproven--it's just a fact. If a business has to pay more for goods, they will charge more for that good. It's called capitalism, and the modern economy was built on it. Tariffs will cause higher consumer prices, not just for cars and houses and appliances and electronics but for car insurance and homeowner's insurance and health insurance--all of which involve coverage for 'parts' made overseas.
