My wife has been a fan of EVs forever. She wanted a Tesla when all they were selling were baseball caps. (That was around the time they were showing off the original Roadster. She still has the cap!) The turning point was in 2015 when a friend of mine loaned us his Model S for a weekend. She absolutely wanted one. I came home one night and she presented me with a budget that could accommodate a Model S. I had my dream car, a Hemi Challenger, and thought she should finally have hers! We put solar on the roof and installed a 240V outlet for charging.

We're very close to the Fremont factory, and in those days, you had to go to the factory to pick up your car. They "made" us take a factory tour before we could see the car! I had told our rep that this was a combination birthday and Christmas present, and could they do something? We walked into the delivery area and they had put a big red bow on it! She got the first model with Autopilot (AP1), and it still works great.

A couple years later, I was thinking of a Model 3, which were about to come out. (I had stood in line at the showroom to put down a deposit.) I went to the showroom to discuss details, and they told me that Tesla was finishing up their production for the month and a few Model S "strippies" - no options, 75kWH battery, and black paint. And 1% financing. I ran the numbers, and it was not much more than the 3 was going to be, so I put my money down. I traded in the Challenger, and haven't looked back. I'll never buy and ICE vehicle again!

I was the kind of guy who did not care about cars AT. ALL. As long as it looked decent and got me from point A to point B, that's all that mattered. I'm very into technology in general, and I just viewed cars as expensive pieces of machinery that weren't making large strides in technology from year to year. My first car was a 1993 Toyota Camry LE that my mom gave me. I ended up buying a 2009 Toyota Camry LE. I wanted to go fully electric in 2013, but I couldn't afford a Tesla at the time. I also wasn't impressed by the range on other EVs. So I got a 2013 Toyota Camry XLE Hybrid. I was going to upgrade to a 2017 Toyota Avalon XLE Hybrid. I test drove the Avalon and it was almost exactly the same as my 2013 Camry. I looked at the $40k price tag and was turned off. If the car did not say "Avalon" on the back of it, I wouldn't have known it wasn't a Camry. The in-dash display was ever-so-slightly better, but not worth paying $40k for. Out of pure curiosity, I went and test drove a Tesla Model S. I was immediately blown away. All of the technology in the car was amazing. The quality of life features that other cars don't have. Autopilot. "Get in and go, get out and forget it." One-pedal driving. My biggest question was "Why doesn't everyone else do these things?" I still couldn't afford one at the time, but I put a plan together and got a Model S Long Range in 2020. Also, I got free supercharging with mine a few months before they stopped offering the deal.

I took notice of Tesla when we learned of the crash worthiness in the mid teens. Also surprising was the acceleration on performance models are better than my old C6 ZO6. So I thought I would like to have one for my now new family, but nothing prepared me for the experience of driving them. Early this year my wife and I took two test drives and we were floored. I never dreamed that I would love it so much. I like to say it make driving cars as different as it is driving a boat. It make stop and slow traffic a breeze and the aircon is strong and efficient. Come on Tesla Thailand !

Wow all these people rolling in money since no EV is cheap! The guy who had a Tesla model X and a Tesla model 3 he must be a millionaire. just the model X is super pricey even compared to pricey luxury normal ICE cars.

Even with EV credits ( only in the USA ) the EV's still beyond most people to buy. Here in the UK, our EV credits been cut down each year so now it is only £2.500
It was £5000 awhile back...

And there's our Government saying buy a EV but they keep cutting the EV credits. even when it was £5000 that is nothing to the amounts the US state & counties give off the EV's now! Most people anywhere won't ever buy a EV to replace the horrible ICE cars because the EV cost too much to buy!


Yes they save you money But you have to be able to afford to buy them in the 1st place? Mass production don't and is not bringing the cost of them down, in fact the prices are going up!
Tesla EV's keep on going up each month now. Elon put up the prices by $500 to $1000 each month for 9 times now. as though Tesla's are not super priced as it is.
