Garter Snake Catch

catching a garter snake. nothing uncommon but its my first snake catch of the season. it was kind of hard catching the snake and being the camera man at the same time but i still managed to catch him.

Thanks!  This helps my young daughter who is afraid of snakes when we spot them on our walks.  She cries seeing real ones, so this is a little less intimidating!  I played with Garters all my childhood, and never knew they'd bite, so I learned something as well!

I love these snakes! They keep the mice and rodents out of my house in the slightly warmer seasons and i thought about maybe catching one and feeding it the muce that do get into the house. Im a huge snake lover and i want to make sure the snake is still happy being in a tank with rocks and plants. What do you think?

What do their bites feel like? A pinch? A scratch? Etc. because i found a SORTA BIG ONE in my backyard & i only would touch it w/ gloves on. & i have one more question. Does the size depend on the bite? Like if a big garter snake bit me would it hurt more than a little or medium sized one? Thanks! :)

Thank you. There is a garter snake in our garage and I want to catch him and put him out before my husband sees him. My husband will freak out, he grew up in TN. Sadly we have A LOT of stuff in our garage.

I saw one of these little guys outside my apartment yesterday. As soon as it realized I was coming it flipped to the side and started slithering away in what appeared to be a panic, like it was thinking, "Aaa! Human!"

When I was five years old and in kindergarten, when I got back home for the day I found a large garder snake between some bushes in my yard. I picked it up and it started coiling around me so I took it inside and told my mom “look what I found. She freaked out for a second because she thought it was a copperhead, but after she realized it was just a garder snake she made me put it back where I found it.

Hate when these little Garter Snakes musk when you pick them up. I prefer to catch bull snakes, especially the big loud adults. In a few minutes of catching them they get puppy dog tame.

Garter snakes are the only snake found in Alaska...guess that makes them feel safe when outdoors...oh wait..forgot about the grizzly bear. Geez...you just cant win.
