My teacher from high school was friends with a sweet old Japanese lady that made us Inari Zushi one time, and it was amazing! I never met her, but I tried writing a note in (bad) Japanese to thank her for the food and my teacher said she was really excited and thankful for the note. Hopefully one day, I can try some as good as hers was.

Honestly if you think about it, you don't need a big lunch unless you're doing physical labor, which I don't think her husband does. Also, the food she makes are high in nutritional value so you will be satisfied and somewhat full with less food as you see here. People especially Americans are just used to bigger portions which most of the time is overeating. Overeating itself isn't good for you, especially if the food lacks nutrients.

I used to cook daily for my husband and packed his lunch had his cooler of ice water ready and all those things. But he started coming home with the food or just leaving it in the car, so after awhile I stopped cooking and packing his stuff....now, now he tells me DAILY he wants my food, he loves my cooking and all that. Now I have to find the mindset to do it again.
