Matt, what's your plan for low voltage/networking in your new home? Are you planning on having a home network/media rack somewhere in your mechanicals room? On your last video, you were using bluetooth Halo lights and you mentioned their ease of use versus having WiFi enabled fixtures. It seems like more of a pain in the long run than doing a solid prosumer/commercial network install especially while all the walls are open, in my opinion. Check out Ubiquiti products if that's something you haven't considered yet. This is not something you want to consider after drywall is up, and considering current circumstances, a solid home network is necessary today.

My grandfather - a chemical and industrial engineer and foreman of a paper mill - kept Halon glass grenade fire extinguishers beside the stove, fireplace, in his workshop, and near the galley and engine compartment of his boats. He never had a fire, but if he did, he was ready.

I'm glad you nerd out over different building products, so I want to ask, why don't you seem to include home network planning in your build? The best house I've ever lived in, the previous owners installed ethernet ports in all rooms. It made wired networked devices super reliable and low latency. Since you do YouTube channels, it would make sense for you to have a small server rack for network devices: router, firewall, switches. Wireless access points in key areas of the house to allow network calls and avoid low cell singles inside your home. It's a lot easier to run ethernet drops before the drywall goes up.

Those in wall ball valves look like a nightmare waiting to happen, cheap plastic handle to turn it off after it’s been in the on position for 10 years.

How is that a separate drain? The inspector flagging that is full of it. Modern wash machine drain hoses are so small, probably 1"? And that condensate drain pipe is probably smaller than 1"!

I’m a commercial framer (steel studs to concrete decks) and we use the max pinner for our top and bottom track connections. We love them. The amount of nails you can have in the gun is great!! The hoses are expensive and from my understanding, unfixable, but if you take care of the tool, it takes care of you.

The last project I was on the plumbers used those shut off valves and they complained about them. Said they are kinda cheap in comparison to typical shut off valves. Could have been a cheaper model not sure.

Love see the commercial tech make its way to residential. Give me ideas when I build my own house.

That fire ball thing is so cool, that should be a Christmas tree 🎄 ornament, and can prevent fire around the Christmas decorations and tree itself.

Had some of the old style of globe fire extinguisher. I was told if they got to hot they exploded. Parts of our house was a homestead house from 1920 ish. We had a couple of the globes mounted in the basement. Dad had one break. It took all the oxygen out of the basement. He got out of the basement gasping for breath

I work on houses and commercial buildings in Canada. Soprema is pretty much the standard here, and they have full systems for every exterior air-vapour seal application you can think of.

Inspections seems so arbitrary these days. I understand the intent of the separate drains for washer and another product in need of a drain but shouldn't common sense prevail when talking about the low to trickle flow of a condensate drain? Any thoughts?

I use resisto products here in Vancouver, everything from roof Repairs, Foundation Crack repair and water proofing, and recently I’ve been using Resisto to repair built in gutters. Never had a call back yet

I love the video of the guy putting out the fire in a toilet. You have to wonder, in what parts are the world are toilet fires a concern. ;)

I need one of those fireballs. I often set my toilet on fire - especially in the mornings.

My Grandparents house still have one of those glass fire extinguisher balls in their house. Original to the house from the early 1900s.

If those fire extinguisher balls have a very long shelf date then you could put a number of them inside your attic mounted on the rafters. If there is ever a fire they go off automatically. Be a great fire suppression system that is easy to install. They should come out with decorative light fixtures that could be installed in any room that has hidden extinguisher balls that go off in case of a fire.
