Logitech Scrolling Fix

Here I show how to fix the scrolling issue that is apparent in some Logitech mice. This one is the G703.

With a decent soldering iron and some patience, you can do the same.

I hope this helps someone out there.

Had this problem 2 times. Most of the time, the encoder is actually fine and you do not need to solder anything. The part of the wheel that connects into the encoder has most likely just worn out a little. I've fixed it by supergluing the wheel to the inside of the encoder, but as other videos suggest, you can use a piece of paper in between the wheel and the encoder and that works just as well. This time I did both. Paper and glue and hopefully that lasts longer.

Great guide. I don't think I can manage to do this myself but still, good stuff

I just had the same problem with my G Pro Wireless. The scroll wheel became totally useless. While scrolling, it would jump either too far or in the wrong direction. It seems that the encoder was just dirty. I cleaned a lot of gunk out of the encoder under a microscope using a fine needle, tweezers, and Q-tips along with a mixture of acetone and isopropyl alcohol and air to fish it out. I reassembled the mouse and now it works great.

Is there a mouse that comes with a good encoder standard? I have 3 with the same issue. I would rather just buy a good mouse than try to resolder a new switch in place. I am not good with that type of work.

I at least have the satisfaction of knowing that Logitech had to send me a replacement mouse for the scrolling wheel issue, but unfortunately the second G403 they sent me had the double click issue and they informed me my warranty wasn't from the date I received the replacement mouse but from the date of my original purchase so I now have two partially working G403 mice.

Thanks for tearing this apart so I'm less likely to break mine. Would you be able to put some links to the encoder and the pads in the description? Awesome vid though, I only recommend you use a headphone mic and your phone or otherwise for audio, saves hassle with audio volume discrepancies

Great vid! Just a reminder, the hole isn´t 9mm, its the height of decoder. What thickness of solder are you using for the encoder?

I swapped for the TTC yellow encoder you used here but it still scrolls backward until I placed a paper there again.

maybe a bit late but there seems to be a software fix now

They should just use the hexagon scroll not the complete round scroll.

What tool did you use to remove the screws?

yea that's awesome. However, this is not for beginners. If you are not use to soldering then you might mess it up more then it is. For just a quick fix, I recommend the small piece of paper trick. Its easy, don't have to solder and takes less time and the results are typically the same. Look on google if your not sure.

you just need to disassemble and clean the contacts inside
