Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn Beta - Dungeons

Let's dive into the beta test for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, and see how the upcoming Final Fantasy MMO is looking. In this episode, Kim parties up and jumps into the first three dungeons FFXIV has to offer.

My problem is that I get so ARGH and a wee bit panicky in the midst of the battle that I struggle to take in all the info popping up on the screen. So I kept missing the Sleep messages the first few times! I will get better though - I'm not great at MMO dungeons, but there's something about the way the FFXIV dungeons are presented that I felt like I really learned a lot! Hopefully I can find a patient Raiding party at launch O_o

I'll be honest, I wasn't really sure what he was up to, as I was too busy focusing on my tactics. But he did seem to be able to keep the mobs' attention and hold his own, especially against the boss. Tbh the problem with the Void Soulcounter was that we just weren't talking to each other, and still getting used to our party roles. That was right at the beginning of Tam Tara, so still settling into the swing of things.

I didn't really have a problem with finding a balanced party through the Duty Finder, or finding out how to get the dungeons...but I guess that because I went through the Duty Finder in a lot of detail, I knew what the deal was. I did have to patiently explain to one over eager chap outside Copperbell that he couldn't just party up with two tanks and two DPS and it'd be fine...

Best. Moment. Ever. That was a real high five moment! I thought we were going to get overwhelmed again, then BAM! FIRE FROM THE SKY.

Ah! Thank you! I paid a lot of attention to the cluster of bars on the left, but didn't spot the aggro meter. Makes more sense now!

Thanks! I tried my best to keep up. By the end of Copperbell, I really felt like I was getting to grips with things, and now I've got the raiding bug. Can't wait to get back to it in phase 4! Must admit, the whole maths aspect to raiding is a bit daunting to me :/ I tried to read some forum posts on reddit and got very lost. But I'm trying to get better!

I am not really sure if she really did, if so, in one of the earlier ones.
But its actually pretty easy. When you cast fire, you get a buff which stacks up to 2 or 3 times that enhances your firemagic damage but also firemabgic mp cost. With ice, you get a buff that (i'm not exactly sure if it also increases dmg) improves your manaregeneration. With the ice buff on, casting fire will remove the ice buff first, and vice versa, but there also is an ability to switch all stacks to the other element

Also, totally respectful to anyone playing FFXIV! I'm really not the kind of gamer to intentionally mess things up, steal loot or be a jerk. Really not my style, so I really hope I didn't come across as this in my videos! I'm hoping when this launches proper, I find a good groups of chums to raid with - really enjoyed these ones, and I want to learn more and get better at it! Will keep your advice in mind :)

As of last time I was at my store (Tuesday) I could not find if we were going to have a way to purchase game time at the store. So as of now, my answer to you is that you cannot buy monthly time for the game (yet!).

Sorry I didn't get a chance to play on PS3 - there was just so much to cover, I never got around to it. For what it's worth, I've found this to be the first MMO that's really intuitive for people new to the MMO genre, so hopefully that applies to the PS3 version too!

You can also see your personal aggro by using the little boxes on the bottom left. They show each mob that you're attacking right? Well, within that box is another smaller box and that box will turn from green, to yellow, to red depending on how much aggro you're accumulating on each mob. Was so wonderful to figure that out as a healer. Could see right away when my heals were causing too much hate on certain adds.

I think the kick option was either disabled in phase 3 or just not working because I had a few groups where someone DC'd and never came back. I found the option to kick them but it didn't do anything.

Yeah, I was quite rude to that poor chap I left behind O_O. We did have a Limit Break discussion - the first time I totally screwed it up because, well, I wanted to see what it did and didn't ask. The second time, with the boss - we had discussed that the lancer would use it, which he did in the fights we KO'd in (unfortunately, no capture), and I just chucked it in that last moment as he wasn't talking and we were pretty much about to die anyway, so I thought, WHY NOT. Thank you for the advice!

It's very comfortable, however... make sure to spread out the skills on your hotbar. I didn't do that at all during Phase 3 and now the R2 button on my controller is sort of broken (it's very sensitive to the slightest touch, which made using L2 skills difficult as you can't have both Left and Right hotbars up at the same time).

I was in this beta phase as well, I did this raid on Sunday, and I have played lots of MMOs. Your party did just fine - some gamers are just impossible to please. Maybe there were some mathematical imperfections but your team accomplished the objective in time, your party was in control of every situation they encountered, and people had fun.

Question. I was watching the party info section in the upper left corner where it shows the partys health, MP, ect. I noticed that at the far left every class has alittle icon showing what class that person is. As you fight the Icon gets alittle glowing bar at the bottom of it. Is that an Agro Meter? seems the Tanks bar was always the fullest.

I'm I correct in assuming that you can only choose 1 more class after level then, and after that you are locked to those two?

Hey, just a question, I love being a mage and I was wondering, how is your MP constantly going up? Doesn't look like you have refresh so are you using potion or do certain mages now have spells to do that? thank you!
