Instant Karma for those who call Tesla a "supercar killer"

This is what I've been looking for! A video and review of a Tesla on a road course! Those videos of quarter-mile races against carefully chosen opponents got old quickly.

It only gets 0.89g in the corners. That's the same as a postal Jeep.

It's like an old-fashioned muscle car. Only good with the quarter mile. Foolish fanboys pointing to the Tesla and say that it's a supercar killer and makes supercars useless. It's slower than a hot hatch for crying out loud, and the whole point of supercars and sportscars is handling, balance, excitement, noise. Even sports sedans can have that, so don't say the Tesla is practical, hence better than sportscars. C63, M3, RS6, M5, M6, the list goes on.

Can we finally acknowledge that, Ludicrous Mode notwithstanding, the Tesla Model S is NOT a sports car?

Been looking about and it seems someone took the Model 3 to Laguna Seca and they're pretty happy that the did a 1:57:5 lap saying they were almost as fast as Clarkson in an NSX.
I checked the Laguna Seca records and while it's true, they are also slower than a Mini Cooper S Mk II (yes the old old mini that was built in the 1960's) a VW Golf, a Honda Civic SI, a BMW Mini Cooper JCW (so that was not a fluke, the JCW is faster than any production Tesla), A Ford Fiesta, a BRZ, a Ford Focus ST.
So I guess it's official, Tesla cars slower than a Golf and 2-4 times the cost.

At least Car and Driver gave in and ran a lap with the Tesla. Motor Trend will NOT run laps with Teslas. All their performance tests with Teslas are 1/4 mile runs only.

Pathetic on the track. Good for straight drag only. Wonder what other cars could beat that lap time?

Wow this is slower than the EcoBoost Mustang hahahahaha

I think my 2005 Corolla S could almost do a 3:17.

Did you turn the battery regen on? Because that causes a lot of heat & needs to be turned off on a track or motorway.

Exactly what I've been saying about this car for months. It's crap at performance and overheats it's battery. This is unacceptable at this price point for a fast saloon car. Tesla have made claims their P100D is the quickest production car in the world and it's simply not true. Once the battery overheats its game over. It took 48 seconds here. Tesla and the EV community need to stop misleading people and telling lies. I own 3 EV and they are good cars, but they have serious issues and this shows them.

I would like to see you do this with the Model 3 Performance in Track Mode

alright for the street. garbage for real performance

Overheating can also be lowered by not letting it regenerate, this reduces heat in the battery and less range offcourse.

Just what I thought. These things are dogs outside of the quarter mile going in a straight line.

Why did you test the OLD P85D instead of a NEW 2016 Refreshed P90DLudicrous, the New cars have improved cooling for the battery and don't have these issues....the P100DL that was announced last week has even better battery cooling... your testing Teslas old tech...

Pretty sad the Hellcat Challenger is 18 seconds quicker and even the even bigger, heavier Jeep Trackhawk is 11 seconds faster!

I enjoy driving Teslas. Very easy and torquey around town. There willbe geriatrics mowing down pedestrians with the crazy off the line acceleration. I do believe the build quality is well below par. It is a car for rich folks. A Honda fit makes more sense if you care about a footprint.

Not to be a dick(I know, I love when people say it too), but what kind of professional records with the radio on?
