I beat this boss 1st try which really surprised me, Father Gascogne took me like 25 tries...it really gets personal after try 6

also in phase 3 its not a poison aura, its a huge ass poison cloud that it makes. If you just run to the opposite side of the arena when you see him use it, he will chase you out of the cloud and you wont have to worry at all about the poison... except when he hits you

Good video. This is a very specific guide because of the huge reach on that spear's charged R2 though. On most other weapons I'd simply recommend to stay on it's tail. That way he won't zerg you with any of his crazy combo's because those all aim to the front. This can be hard during the last phase, but he gives you ample time to damagerace him while he's powering up his poison aura. If you use a firepaper you can probably finish him during that first powerup.

Hardest boss in the game for me personally. He is the only one I can't read.

I found the first 2 phases are almost trivialized if you parry and follow up by a visceral. During the 3rd I couldn't parry consistently and used the "dodge towards it" strat

You never mentioned that in the phase 2 his attacks inflict poison. And in phase 3 he will actually set a poison cloud on a certain area and you can evade it by just staying away from the area he lands it on. He doesn't actually emit poison around him.

or you can just parry cheese it since if you stay in its face all it does is the slow right hand swipe. :)

Curious why you didn't go for the backstab upon landing the initial charged R2? Or why you don't recommend using gunshots to stagger? BSB is extremely susceptible to parrying and visceral attacks.
