We are having our first WDW trip as a family (it will be 26 years from my last time there, first for the other 3 in my fam) in May 2021. We are praying this VGC DVC family can get a 1 bedroom at AKL. This just makes us more excited and confident in our decision. Fingers and toes crossed!

Poly vibes and transportation options make it the GOAT for me

Poly. Stayed there for Christmas 2018. The room was immaculately clean.(Thank goodness. I had read about many issues guests had had.) No problems. It did seem that it had been designed in 1971 without updates but that made it all the more wonderful practically a time machine. And right before going to your room at night even after midnight you would see the castle lit up. Of course it makes going home after your stay all the more difficult.

Stayed in a two bedroom villa Savannah view room at Kidani and it was amazing. I think we must have had a remodeled room because furnishings seemed fresh to me. It was gorgeous. We are big walkers and my kids are all school aged so we never minded walking over Jambo House for more food options. Jambo can get loud and lively which is an awesome experience, but we also loved the quietness of Kidani after leaving the parks for the day.

1980 at the Poly was my first stay. So much has changed...good and not so good. We've stayed at the Poly in 2006, the rooms were so run down. Animal Kingdom stayed there 3x. First choice everytime!!! Love the theme, animals, lobby, pool, food court (the Marra), Savanah View room cant be beat!

Poly without a thought. Stayed in both many times. AK w Savanah view Poly with lake/MK view. The proximity and nostalgia throws it way over the top for us.

Currently in the process of selling one of our DVC contracts through DVC Store. We have had hiccups on our end due to COVID but they have been so patient with us. I recommend DVC store if you are wanting to sell a contract. We can’t wait to close out this sale with them.

We would probably be excited about either, but cannot afford either!

I love AKL but the second shower at Poly DVC studio rooms plus the monorail ride to Magic Kingdom is so convenient!

Interesting conversation. We always stay at Shades of Green so we walk and catch the monorail at the Polynesian. I love the vibe of the Poly, so it would be my pick for a stay between the two. AKL sounds like it'd be great for a visit and meal, but Pete's right about the convenient location of the Polynesian for families.

Right now, with small kids, I would have to choose the poly. We haven’t stayed there yet, but we have done AKL, and that bus with a double stroller for all transportation is a major downside. We stayed at BLT in February, and the monorail is a godsend when having to transport a stroller. That said, if I’m buying a contract, I’m choosing AKL all the way. My kids are only going to get bigger, but not big enough for a bungalow, so that ability to get a one bedroom at AKL seals the deal for us.

Polynesian - 1. close to the parks. 2. Monorail and Boats to Magic Kingdom plus to Grand Floridian and Wilderness lodge, Poly has the best transportation options.
3.Location is the best. If you are not doing the parks then Animal Kingdom would be great. Wish the mono-rail made it out to the Animal Kingdom area.

My husband does not like Disney so getting him to go is a job in itself but I finally got him to stay at Poly this January. We stayed in a standard room and were shocked at how shabby it was for the price we paid. Worn furniture, gross carpet and cracked bathroom tile. That said the staff, amenities and location were phenomenal and can’t be beat. My kid is still talking about the pool to this day. But unless they have a refurb we won’t be going there again soon.

Poly got me !! We have stayed there a number of times . Love that we viewed the fireworks from the beach and watch the water electric parade . I like the food but I agree the rooms need an updating ♥️😉

My dream trip would be a AKL and Poly split stay. Not sure I could choose because I love them both for very different reasons

I really like both hotels a lot. Animal Kingdom Lodge is amazing and the whole fact that you can get to see animals in the grounds is very impressive. The only downside this hotel has is not close to any of the parks. You have to take a bus everywhere, there's no boat, no skyliner, no monorail. If my vacation was more park centric I would definitely go for the Poly. But if the vacation was more of a chill relax thing maybe go to the parks sporadically then I would go to AKL doubtlessly.

AK! I hate not having the option to take a bus to Epcot, and having to make the switch at TT center!

I have stayed at both & both are beautiful and themed well.I guess it depends on which parks you are visiting.
