How to Create Text in Fusion 360

How to Use the Text Command in Fusion 360 // By the end of this video, you’ll know how to use the text command, including how to explode text, in Fusion 360.

The text command can be activated from the sketch dropdown list... or from the right-click sketch menu.

Once activated, you’ll be prompted to select an origin plane or another form of pre-existing faces or geometry.

Great video! Important oversight: The font defaults to Arial whenever it is a type of font that is not supported by Fusion. For example, you selected Bebas, which, being a fancy OTF font was rendered as yucky Arial! Fusion only supports TTF fonts.

I would like to point out that text characters not available on your keyboard can be typed in by holding down the Alt key and typing in the ASCII code. For example "Alt"176 will put a degree symbol in the text tool box.

QQ... I don't have a sketch tab/dropdown, and right click does not bring up the option to insert text. I realize this video is a few years old, so maybe a different path to get there in current revs, or perhaps the option is not available on the personal version?

1. If I create a Name, it saves each letter separately (as a body)
How can I save an STL file of the entire name together?


2. Can I add sketches of the name? For example, connect letters the way I want?

Loving your tutorials... Have you produced a tutorial where you print only on the first layer (obviously text and graphics need to be reversed) and then have a solid colour above that? I would like to know how to print some text (colour 1) then a logo (colour 2) on the first layer and the with a third colour cover all of it with a rectangle, 2mm thick to, overall create a nameplate. The printer surface would be textured to help hide the print lines. Thoughts???
