This video shows the calculation of the lunar orbit around the earth as it is modelled in the Antikythera mechanism.

This includes the moon phases, the calculation of the moon position in front of the fixed stars and finally its differing speeds in the anomalistic month. Close to earth, the moon moves faster and remote from earth the moon has a slower pace. This special feature is modelled in the Antikythera mechanism with gear wheels using a pin-and-slot-connection.

The interactions of the gear wheels are demonstrated in animations and the mathematical correlations that are modelled using gear wheels are also explained in this video.

And it would be good to mension that all this is geocentric model and its sill working with same accuracy :) interesting, isn't it ?
