Halfords (SGS) Trolley Jack Fix - Air purge and oil top up

In this video I investigate why my Halfords low profile trolley jack won't stay up. As part of that I show the process for purging the air and filling up the oil.

Still helpful 1 year later! I have the exact same model of jack. Following many years of faithful service it was beginning to struggle. After watching this video, I was able to resuscitate it within 15 minutes. Coincidentally, I'm working on the brakes of my Audi. Many thanks!

Bang on I’ve just gone to swap my wheels over finally get the summer wheels on and my 2t jack not going up there’s a fair bit of oil been leaking into the box so this video really helpful as I’ll have a go at this I’m def no mechanic and swapping wheels and washing the cars about my only diy lol everything else is down to Halfords or Audi lol 😂

Ps I found pushing the plug in with something blunt like a Allan key it goes in really easy 👍

Great video. Can this trolley jack be pushed under the car at the front and used to lift at the central lifting point near the centre of the front axle? My guess is that it cannot due to its short length and the need to raise the lever up high to pump the jack.
i.e. Is it only useful for lifting at the edge of the car under the sill lip?

Is there a max level to fill up or just to the hole ?

I have this exact jack and it was going down on me ever so slowly the other day. Did your oil fix work permanently or do you have to keep topping it up because its leaking? I'm looking at mine tomorrow. Cheers
