How Fast Can I Run? | 6-Mile Negative Split Run Workout
Показать описание
While I'm not racing a bicycle at the elite level anymore--I retired from that seven years ago--I still do place a lot of importance on fitness and staying in shape. I work out six days a week. Three of those are in the gym. Three of those are running. For as long as I can remember, I have always had a really big aerobic engine. I loved running cross country in high school (though never competitively) and the time trial was my event on the bike, which made me a very solid stage racer, occasional breakaway artist, and frequent race antagonist.
These days, I get my endurance athlete fix from running. To be honest, running is not something I have always loved. I'm still not sure I really "love" running, but as a vehicle for aerobic fitness and pushing myself physically, it has really grown on me over the past year and a half.

In today's video, I'm showing you one of the harder runs I've done recently--a six-mile negative split run with a ramp up through my heart rate zones for four miles until running the last two at threshold.
I owe a lot of my fitness success to my personal trainer, Rick Kattouf. Back in the day when I was an elite-level bicycle racer, I worked with Rick in tandem with my cycling coach. He was my nutritionist and my strength coach. The results spoke for themselves. A three-time duathlon national champion, Rick is the real deal. He's coached many flavors of athletes from pros to weekend warriors. I can personally vouch for his abilities as a coach.
