I love how we’re making our way back to handhelds finally. It feels great ❤

I had a Game Gear. It was awesome, so much better performing than the Gameboy. But it ate so many batteries!

Flew under my radar?! Looks up at the limited edition set that came with the glass case featuring all of them. I think not young man!

I was the Game Gear kid with the Master Gear converter. Playing Phantasy Star, Golden Axe, and R-Type put the Gear on... the Next Level.

Never thought of making a raspi sega themed handheld until now lol that’s cool af even tho I’m too blind to play something that small.

I remember reading about these, lots of people thought the concept was great, but it was way too small to be practical; however it begs to know the reason Sega made these is knowing Japan has an affinity for micro keychain accessories that are also functional, for that extra flair. Doesn’t need to be practical if it’s stylish and eyecatching.

Where i lived in Alaska, sadly no. No place in the island community had any for sale when they were relevant at all. I do remember years later seeing some in garage sales from families that had moved there though and did pick up one. Worked fine, ate through batteries like crazy as i recall and the games i did get were not the best.

Years later though i have been buying up ones that are of interest to me, find some new titles here and there and its been fun. Just sucks that the ones i really want are borderline impossible to get short of a fortune. Tail's adventure was a big chunk of change but mega man has been a nightmare including a guy who tried to hose me for, well, a lot.

Either way, couple of titles i especially wanted were ones that were... castlevania adjacent, shall we say.

I was a 2000s kid. A broke 2000s kid who's family didn't do the Sega gubbinz. I will say as an outsider looking in the Game Gear is a pretty sick little thing. I respect it for being a whole master system on the go and having some neat games on it. The Godzilla game on it is really neat to see. There's even a fan patch that translates it to English.

I loved the game gear. Have no clue why it wasn't a bigger system. It came with a TV receiver and the games were amazing. Granted my favorite Sega game was road rash but still

I actually knew about the mini but was waiting for an American release. I liked the game gear although some games almost required the power adapter. It was a battery eater but had options I wished the Gameboy had.
