To help potential buyers. My dad owns the 720e and I own the mu7000. I put them both side by side and after calibrating the TVs to my tastes they look pretty well exactly the same. The extreme colour pop you see in this video is because the creator had the TVs on factory default. Which Samsung had alot of post processing crap I disabled and afterwards it looked great. Each have their pros and cons and that would be up to the buyer to decide their poison.

At 4:06 you can see on screen a lot of purple tinting on Samsung TV, while Sony is perfect gray and more brighter, a better image overall.

I bought the Sony because of the traditional remote. I can't stand all these new remotes without numbers.

sony TV displays have much higher quality than the rest of the competition, even since trinitron models from the 90s to early 2000s. I own a bravia made in 2014 now, and i am not disappointed.

I Just bought the Sony KD49X720E. Totally happy with all it has to offer and I only paid $900.00.
JB HIFI has it on special for $998.
The comment about the the back plastic is way off, totally fine.

2:18 you can see samsung TV add too much colour and makes it pop where as sony keeps the details.

I went to a mall last week looking for tvs prices and sizes. Samsung tvs looked a bit more brighter but boy they handle motion like garbage, it is unforgivable for the prices. On the other hand Sony was far superior in handling motion especially x800e and x900e. Sony is better and if you're someone who watches sports alot don't think about it and get Sony.

Pay close attention to the video clip at 2:49 showing both sets at an off angle. The Sony retains color saturation and the Samsung washes out. I bought (and returned) a Samsung 4k 43" that had a great picture straight-on, but color shifted and faded terribly from the slightest angle. It was literally a one-person TV. This attribute is documented in the viewing angle tests at Rtings.com.

(Copied from a reply I made) To keep it simple.

Sony 720e
PROS
-Remote has lots of buttons making it easy to navigate menus quicker...which leads to
-Navigating menus take a bit getting used to, but very quick and convenient to find what you need
-Designated Netflix/Youtube button
-Colour is slightly better than MU7000. Lighter shades of blue, yellow, and darker pinks.
-Headphone jack
-Can get pretty bright, overall uniformity is good
-Good viewing angles due to IPS panel
-Has a functional USB playback function, but can be slow to navigate when fast forward/rewinding content
-TV sits on a center stand which is great for smaller TV units.
- Low input lagg

CONS
-Low contrast ratio makes blacks more grayish
-Smart apps are more or less limited to Netflix/Youtube
-Not the nicest looking TV aesthetically, which i say MU7000 looks nicer in this regard but performance is all that matters.
-Designated power supply that can't be removed from the TV externally. Huge issue if for whatever reason the power cord becomes damaged, you'd be forced to open up the entire back of the TV to replace the power cord.
-While the TV can get bright, it also struggles to get "dark" in other words, in a dark room you'll definitely want a lamp on as this TV causes eye strain. I wish the backlight could be turned down a few extra notches here.
- Can't play older video game consoles that plug in via Composite video, without causing a weird fuzzy distortion while Game mode is enabled.
- Minor Judder is present if you're sensitive to this

MU7000
PROS
-The remote is Bluetooth, and while it lacks some buttons such as designated Youtube/Netflix buttons, it makes up for this in the super responsive button presses and not needing to point the remote at the TV for it to work. Seriously you can use the remote while you're covering the censor with your hand.(Also has voice control)
-Very responsive menus and Smart apps, easily the best of every TV I've tried..Sony/Vizio/LG/Sanyo... Samsung is the king for the Smart hub.
- Not limited to Youtube/Netflix. Can add internet Radio, IPTV etc...
- USB playback through external drive is fast, well laid out, and responsive
-Can produce a very natural colour image quite easily with some tinkering. However some colours aren't as vibrant as they could be.
-TV can get bright, or dark when you need it to be. Not a bad choice for a dark room.
-Decent contrast ratio, better than 720e, not the best, nor the worst
-Removable/replaceable power cord
-Inputs on the side of the TV are easy to reach and well laid out.
-Can play older gaming consoles via Composite video. Although blacks appear darker than normal, but at least it works.
- Low input lagg

CONS
-That remote I like so much? Well I also hate it at the same time. No designated source button to switch inputs, which causes you to press "Home" and then select your input. A few extra button presses, but could've been avoided with a designated button. Also missing a menu button to change picture settings, which again causes a few extra button presses to reach the Picture settings.
- Viewing angles are horrid, you gotta be mostly centered with the display to use it. I do not recommend this TV for off angle seating at all. I use the MU7000 for my bedroom so this isn't an issue.
- While the TV center stand is nice, it's also quite wobbly, so this would definitely be an issue if you have kids bumping into your TV unit.
- The TV constantly wants to scan for each new input source I plug in and give it a name. Most sources don't get names, so the TV just sits there scanning the "foreign" HDMI you plugged in, which causes you to press "Back" to cancel this. Very frustrating at times, and unnecessary
- No headphone jack
- Minor judder is present if you're sensitive to this

OVERALL

Both TVs are a good choice. However it depends on what you want to use the TV for. I personally feel the Samsung is better for watching movies through smart apps and such due to the quick menus, Bluetooth remote, however viewing angles are a concern and could pose a problem depending on seating environment. While the Sony is kind of a jack of all trades, it doesn't do anything super well, nor bad. You could pick up the Sony TV and have to do very little tinkering and you're good to go. But it lacks any sort of expandable smart apps. IMO If you have an android box or something of that nature to stream content instead, the Sony is the better choice due to better viewing angles, and colour. With that said, I use the MU7000 because I use the internet radio all the time and viewing angles aren't a concern for my seating environment, and also because it has the ability to get darker in a dark room. The choice is yours!
