Hi Crystal, I’m an Aussie and grew up learning how to deal with just about everything in the way of nature being out to get you. Some tips that help a lot. Clear everything, like the tiles you found, anything that is likely to make a good hidey hole, right away from the house. Use insect screens on doors and windows. Seal under the sinks, showers, plumbing, doors to outside, etc with silicone. Keep everything as much as possible off the floors and put shoes etc in large sealed tubs. The flower pots on the front porch, raise them up on a stand, sweep a few times a week around and under outdoor furniture and if you have outdoor mats they also make great hiding spots. Places like the tunnel between Aurora’s room and the next bedroom is a nice quiet place for bugs so keep anything there off the floor and sealed in tubs. Tubs should have tight-fitting lids and/or place a plastic trash bag over the top of the bin then put the lid on to seal it. I grew up like other Aussie kids learning about poisonous snakes, spiders, etc and what to do to live safely alongside them. You only need do these things once and then just maintain them. It gives a lot of peace of mind. I hope this might help you feel a bit better! ❤

Remove any bushes near the house. I had 3 bushes near my walkway. We had the bushes removed. No more scorpions. We get 1 here and there, but not like we used to.

We have scorpions where I live in the middle east. Once your backyard is covered they won't be so much of a problem. They are everywhere in sandy areas, but once we put interlock down, the problem solved itself.

Canadian here - we have a winter place in AZ so totally used to the scorpions. What we do when we're gone over the summer is put glue pads down near all the doors. Obviously we have to pick them up when the dogs arrive but they catch a ton of scorpions. You could put them under your cabinets & dressers (anywhere the dogs can't get) to see if they can catch any active bugs.

Get Peppermint oil Scorpions can't stand the smel.Spiders can't stand the smell either.Put the Peppermint oil in a spray bottle with water and spray it around the edge of your front door and back door.Hopefully this helps.

I’ve lived in Fairbanks Alaska for over 6 years and I love it. We don’t have snakes or scorpions. If you have visited, I highly recommend. In the summer the sun never goes down, and in the winter, while it can get really cold usually it isn’t too bad. We also have a lot of cute mom and pop restaurants. Definitely recommend at least a visit :)

Get a small paint pen to write on the bottom (when possible) of the souvenirs...date, place, etc. so you remember when/where it's from.

For the upstairs family room with the travel wall I would recommend a sectional with about 3ft of space all around so you have a comfortable walkway to enjoy that space a little better 🥰

Poor Crystal! I get it! I was on my bed and had my head on a throw pillow. Out of the corner of my eye, I was certain I saw a scorpion with it's stinger raised about to sting my face. I jumped up and yelled so loud as I ran from the room that the rest of the family came running. It turned out it was a large brownish feather that had worked its way out of the pilllow. My parents made me sit down so they could get me some water because I was so pale they were afraid I'd pass out. My brother and sister had a good laugh.😆 So yes Crystal, sell the house! 😂

My sister in Arizona, gets an exterminator every other month. And she puts out traps, that are sticky pads. To catch the different critters, in the garage.

I live in Arizona and I’ve been stung by scorpions. The first time is when you usually get all of the symptoms. The pain, the tingling feeling, some swelling…etc. The funny thing about scorpion stings though is when you get stung the first time you’re usually immune to their venom afterwards.

Cedar oil in the house, cedar mulch around the perimeter of the house. Scorpions hate cedar oil
