I really enjoyed the telescope story and your Emerson quotes regarding the 'heroism' of resisting the conforming behaviour of the herd. It helps me to stay strong when I know I'm right.

Hey Brian! Regarding conformity, it was Solomon Asch who studied this isseue extensively, and nowadays you can see how a group of people can influence one person in an elevator to face the direction they're facing. Amazing.

We humans have an urge to conform. It takes heroism to stand out on your own! Dude, this is awesome!

Another great video. Thanks, Brian! I loved the part about focus and the golf analogy. As far as conformity is concerned I find "How I found freedom in an unfree world" by Harry Browne really insightful, though some of it has to be taken with a grain of salt.

“Society will whip you with its displeasure of nonconformity.” Damn. So true and so many are fearful of this whipping. These moments make me grateful for being the so-called black sheep of the family. I grew up unwilling to conform to things that didn’t make sense to me—which was a lot!! It wasn’t easy going against the grain (many tears, feeling out of place, & excluded) but at least I built that muscle early in life and it’s helped me tremendously. Appreciate the summary. I like to know what I’m getting into before I invest my time in another book. So much repetition on the same ideas but I think I’ll enjoy this fresh perspective. About to dive into the book now ✨

Hey Brian ! What is that book where you talk about the psychological resiliency of people of england when they were bombed by the nazi and how they unexpectedly became more fearless about it with time.

I am in Paris now and wanted to look deeper into this book but couldn't google it.

Thanks for everything !

At the beginning of your talk you described Maxwell a top "authority" in leadership. What do you mean by him being an authority??
