The ship that "found" the "derelict" must have been responsible for killing the Mary Celeste's captain and crew, and destroying the logbook, so that they could claim salvage on the ship and its contents. No other scenario makes any sense, particularly the fact that the only thing missing was the logbook. If they hadn't gotten rid of that, it would have shown entries right up to the day when it was "found" by the other ship. That ship may have been found blameless by the court of inquiry, but courts make mistakes all the time, and piracy is the only thing that explains all the facts.

My theory is weather as the boat was found with water sloshing between the boats broken hatches if they knew there was bad weather coming they could've abandoned the ship to get the nearest island or either it could just be mutinity
