I'm from 🇳🇱 and I heard on the radio that the passengers were already on board, even children saw it, very tragic, fortunately they were all offered help, even the crew

I’m working at Schiphol for three weeks now. When this accident happened I was working on the other side of the Bravo pier. A colleague called us that something has happened on the platform at B12. We rushed towards it and saw the military police already on scene and more where to come with sirens on. It looked horrible. Some platform crew from KLM were standing on the platform in complete silence and confusion. We first thought it was the pushbacker but quickly we saw the pushbacker walking in a total shock. When I and my colleagues came a little bit closer we saw the engine with the human remains. It was a traumatic experience. Later someone from security had seen the security footage and told us that the guy sprinted towards the running engine and jumper head first in to it. We are not 100% sure but we think it was a driver of one of the busses who bring passengers and crew to and from the aircraft to the terminal building. Nevertheless I feel sorry for the crew and passengers who has seen the accident. Also feel sorry for the guy who committed suicide but a part of me is also angry that he did it this way.

That almost happened to someone 3 days ago at the airport I work at. Luckily he was fast enough to get away from it.

It turns out that the guy who got sucked into the Embraer 190 engine was a suicidal airline employee. RIP to him.

Imagine taking your own life at an INCONVENIENCE to others. If you’re gonna do that at least have the courtesy to not force a flight to cancel. No respect for the ‘victim’.

It’s a really sad story but I just couldn’t hold my laugh in on how he pronounced Schiphol Airport because I’m Dutch. My condolences to everyone involved

And the flight was delayed to the evening where they did the flight with a other crew

Look at the engines, probably after the incident they added spirals to the engines, indicating that the engine is spinning
