More Americans are cycling than ever before. The number of people biking to work has gone up more than 60 percent in the past decade. But that is not an option for some adults. Mireya Villarreal shows us one class in New York City aimed at helping adults learn how to ride.

That's so cute! I'm 22 and I still don't know how to ride a bike because I always lived in a small apartment but I'm planning to buy a bike now, this is very encouraging

I started bicycling when I was five or six years old (nope, not living in the Netherlands). I hope more countries will follow thru the biking culture of the Netherlands. I think bicycling is a move forward not backward as a means of transportation its nature friendly and good for the health.

Living in The Netherlands, I grew up with the bicycle, My dad learned me at the age of 3 how to ride a bike, first with extra side wheel, to prevent you from tipping over, and once you get your balance right, he removed the side wheels.
So the best way to learn it, is to come to the Netherlands.

I've learned to ride a bike at 5 or 6 years old. It was an adult bike. But only after 30 I've learned how to ride a bike not using hands. It was not too simple.

What wonderful adults. I am so proud of them. My now teen age daughter doesn't ride but she will be soon.
I learned to ride a bike at age four and learn to tie my shoe strings at age 3. We dropped the ball
on our first little girl. I dont'really know why.

I'm already 33 yrs old and I also don't know how to ride a bike. Now I ordered the 20 inch and will self learn how to cycle.. It's becoming essential these days since public transport is not yet safe for now.

i’m relearning after a stroke . my left side is the most damaged. can’t use my left hand but the leg is OK. i can walk. i can ride a tricycle but I want a two wheeler back in my life because it would increase my mobility range. when used in conjunction with Public transport. my tricycleus electric pedal assist. but i need to relearn balance. it’s relatively easy to configure a bike for one handed operation. but you do have to be careful of obstacles that will try and wrench control of your front wheel. wearing a helmet is mandatory. especially after a woman who had been stopped st an intersection decidedto merge into traffic right in front of me. seoerated shoulder, cuts and bruises but lesson learned.good lights and helmet are now top priorities. As bu y levi’s my mode of transportation the cost if the bicycle safety and comfort is a fraction of car ownership

They learned in one session? I'm 32, I've tried multiple times in my life. The last time in my mid-20s I took a week off of work and practiced for 7 hours every day for a week and made absolutely no progress. I think I may have balance issues, though I have no problem walking and I do okay with weight training in the gym. The woman who cried was very sweet.

If the only reason you don't know how to ride a bike is because of people laughing at you.. stop caring about what other people think! They are sooo irrelevant to your happiness and sense of accomplishment in life. This applies to any skill, not just bike riding. Do it for yourself and stop worrying about everyone else!
