Everyone told us that Tumpak Sewu on Java, Indonesia had some of the most beautiful waterfalls on earth. Known as the “Falls of a Thousand Falls” in Javanese, we wanted to take the trail down to see them from the canyon below. Unfortunately, the normal way down was closed, and so we had to take the long way, and it also turned out to be an extremely treacherous way.
This trail was very dangerous, taking us over and under waterfalls. The rocks were slippery, the hand holds were wet, and the moss growing everywhere made every step as slick as oil. It was a nightmare trail, but the views all around were straight from heaven.
