The lungs are a pair of organs, one being the right and the other being the left lung (pulmo dexter, pulmo sinister). The right lung has three lobes, while the left one has two. The lobes are further divided into segments (10 on the right, 9 on the left). Due to the position of the heart inside the thoracic cavity, the left lung is slightly smaller compared to the right one. The base of both lungs rest on the diaphragm.

In the full version of this tutorial, we are going to talk about:
- the histology of the lower respiratory tract, starting with some basic concepts so you will be able to make connections between gross anatomy and the microscopic structures we will be discussing later.
- then we will start traveling down the lower respiratory tract. We will discuss the histology of bronchi and how it differs from that of bronchioli, we will talk about the terminal bronchiolus, the respiratory bronchioles and the histology of the alveoli and we will make some remarks on distinct features and the cytology of the alveoli.
- then we will be able to talk about a common disease of the lower respiratory tract, asthma.
- finally we will summarise the key points of this lecture!

Good video, however your upspeak (upward inflection at the end of each sentence) is hideous.
