Trying to simulate a 4 dimensional object with 3 dimensional graphics, on a 2 dimensional screen.

Oh, its just a sphere inside a spher- *starts rotating* Screw understanding stuff.

That's one of the reasons I like making videos of 4-dimensional objects. It *almost* seems like I'm going to understand it, but I never do.

A perfect model would indeed look opaque - and even *more* incomprehensible. So, the lines are supposed to be lines of latitude, longitude, and another 'tude describing the 3D surface of a 4D sphere. This is the shadow of *that* object. :-)

This is not a sphere but a highly spherical object. I assume a actual sphere would be either extremely hard or even impossible to represent or just look like a normal sphere?

Thanks :-) I'm glad you like the video! It's a 4-dimensional sphere, also called a glome. You know how a sphere can be represented by a stack of different-sized circles that are connected together at certain points along their edges? Take it one step further, and connect multiple spheres together through the fourth dimension. That's what this is. There are actually 5 spheres. The black one is the same size as the white one, and they are the two smallest at either end of the glome.

Forget understanding things the human eyes can't depict this anyway

Your description is spot on. I don't pretend to comprehend it either - I merely trust the math behind it.

Thanks for the compliment. When you are talking about spacetime - then time can be considered a dimension of sorts, although it is clearly different from spatial dimensions. You can only go on direction through time, forward, buy any way through spatial dimensions. This video represents an object in 4 SPATIAL dimensions - and really has nothing to do with time. It's like trying to teach someone what a sphere looks like when they've only seen a circle. :-)

If this was an actual sphere it would probs give an epileptic seizure cuz infinite sides:p

1D circle is a line segment AB on an infinite line defined by points AB (and defined by any other 2 points) with its center at 0 and AB at -.5, +.5. Spin it on about the Center all x values change as the cos and y values as the sin. It traces out a circle as it goes180 degrees. If we Paint the + Side of the Line Segment red & - green, then, as it goes180 it paints the top hemicircle red as it traces out all the points, and the neg half, paints the bottom hemicircle green. The new circle us r&g

Thank you. Einstein relates time, space, and the speed of light. He says that everything is always moving at the speed of light - including us. Spacetime is a vector of three physical dimensions and time. So, when something is stationary in space - time ticks at it's maximum rate. When something travels at a large percentage of the speed of light - time must slow down so that the vector sum always remains constant - equal to lightspeed.

This with VR at some engine would be fucking greate

You are amazing, dealing with this in a very cool and calm manner, people should take an example from you. Thank you very much for demonstrating clever and calm ways to deal with a childish person.

still easier to understand than that 4 dimensional cube, i still get chills-

In 3D a Sphere: all XYZ points within some distance. It can turn on fixed Line, the axis. Nothing can turn on a pt or a plane segment. We select any 1 of its Great Circles, divides it into to hemispheres. Fixing this Great Circle as the 4D axis we turn the sphere. Half sweeps out a 4D hemisphere, the other hemisphere sweeps out the bottom 4D Hemisphere. If we take a 3D Sphere into 4D and turn it on such a fixed plane, it seems to srink down towards the plane, become just a circle, then expands.

Ah yes, this sphere is made of sphere

I think its also helpful to think of Circles, Spheres, 4DSpheres as 2 of the previous item - hemispheres and such. Take a line segment and spin it on its center and one side proceeds to sweep out a hemicircle while the other half sweeps out the other hemicircle. Select a diameter axis and spin the circle and 1/2 sweeps out 1 hemisphere while the other hemisphere is swept. 180degrees.Select a great circle and turn the sphere and all but the great circle leaves 3D and sweeps two hemihyperspheres.
