Anakin better stay with them. Him killing them in Canon, while immoral and wrong, spared them from suffering the consequences of slavery. Valuable Younglings after Order 66 would have been a big problem especially since slavers would have found a use for them.

Showing Anakin spare them and THEN the effect of sparing the rando's completes the writer/reader-viewer (viewer in this case) contract/relationship.
