There is a discernible difference in gaming with graphic intensive games and apps! I'm glad I sold my iPad 3 and upgraded to the 4. It is fantastic

Apple now has 3 iPad models
the iPad mini which can be considered an entrylevel device, the iPad 2 (a mid level device for an average user) and the iPad 4, as the premiuem level device for power-users, they have discontinued the iPad 3, however between the iPad 3 and 4 there's no SIGNIFICANT diference in specs sorta

It was either wait longer, like they did between the 4 and 4S, which everyone totally bitched about, or bite the bullet and release it sooner than they may otherwise have liked. They wanted to get their release cycles into a more manageable and logical order. WWDC in June/July, announce new iOS. Devs test it, then its ready for end of Sep/Oct for iPhone and iPod touch, then a month later (maybe even together) you get the new iPads all rocking the same software and design styles.

Although it's not a lot now, if you plan to keep the iPad for a while always opt for the more powerful as the waiting times are only going to get longer

I believe so, you can check their online store. it goes with the name iPad with retina display. but, don't look for iPad 3, because it's no longer available.

Yea, its really fast plus the retina screen is amazing.

ipad mini has a 7.9 inch display with no retina and the A5 Dual Core chip while the iPad 4 has a 9.7 inch display with retina and the A6 Dual Core chip with quad core graphics.

yeah exactly...this new processor will come in handy once dev utilize it more in new games pushing the detail of the games

Thanks for the reply! I heard that the glue that holds the screen hasn't dried yet. I'll keep it a week and see if it's disappearing. Otherwise I'll return it.

Looks like iPad 4 is about 100 points more than the iPhone 5, on geekbench, so when they put an X on the end of the chip, like A6X it doesn't mean much

I bought my first iPad; The iPad 3 when it came out and it took me a year to save up for. The announcement of this newer iPad pist me off a bit.

Thanks for this. I own an iPad 3 and have considered getting an iPad 4, but quite frankly its review after review that just keeps on showing how this upgrade is not worth it. I still wonder if there will be another upgrade in March?

Yea, if it fixes their release cycle problems I guess its ok. It certainly did annoy me though that they couldn't wait a bit for the iPad 3 release and release this instead.

They're both the same price, and you can't get the 3 any more (not from Apple anyway), so if you're in the market for one now just go with the 4. Unless it's used or on sale somewhere else of course.
