Here's the review of the Vario 1918 Trench watch. This watch is inspired by the watches worn by soldiers during the First World War.

These are very underrated. I reviewed the medic version and absolutely loved it! This glossy black dial is amazing. Great quality leather on this Bund strap too.

I’ve had my 1918 for around a year now - it’s a fantastic watch, I love the (also enamel) white dial.

Vario is probably the best microbrand for vintage style watches in the affordable range. Their Empire GMT is probably one of my favorite GMT’s out there. Thanks for the great review. I have a 7in wrist also, and I think the 37 was the right call.

Reviewed one of these a while ago, liked it so much I ended up buying one. Very unusual but really well branded and finished. After an Emerald green Empire now… great review

Great photography, and a good review. I think you chose the right size, with the bund there is enough wrist presence with the smaller case. There is a shortage of small seconds movements, it is either that Miyota 8 series or the similar Sea-Gull 17 series, the Miyota is the lesser of two evils 👍

The size is perfect 👍 I love most of the military inspired watches ! For me, 35mm to 38mm is perfect.

I like it. Reminders me of what I remember my granddad wearing and that I got and overwound after he died in '86. I'll have to did it out to check. I remember it being on a really old leather bund

The first thing I check at the start of a microbrand video is whether or not it’s a fidget spinner. So many great looking watches are ruined, for me personally, by Miyota’s unidirectional rotor. At least I’m saving money 🤷‍♂️

Thanks for the review. Vario are great watches imo. Well built and good lucking. Sadly I'm not going to buy anything with the miyota 8 series..

Should have taken it off of the double strap so we could have seen how it wears without it. Nice watch. Too bad I didn't go for the non-roader version. Could have even gotten it thinner with no rotor noise as a old school hand winding watch. What size is definitely appropriate for the style.

It's a lovely watch! I'm not overly keen on the sweaty bund leather patch but thankfully it can be taken off. I would have preferred a crown at 3 o'clock but I guess the movement architecture dictates this crown position when the small seconds subdial is positioned at 6 o'clock. I think the size is perfect. For that early 20th century this watch takes its inspiration from a 37 mm case even means a huge watch.

An aged brass would look nice on this strap as long as the dial was the cream colour.
If you ask them for a brass one to review by the time you do the review it will have become aged 😂

Not for me. The case and dial look great but that style of strap isn't for me. I did check out their website and their GMT is something I would go for. Anyway, great review.

Cheers!

Without being harsh, I really don't see the point of this watch. I'd rather buy a real trench watch or converted pocket watch, far more history behind them, and to me, far nicer looking.
