2-dim NMR performs correlation spectroscopy with two frequency parameters, corresponding to varying evolution time and free-induction decay time. It provides information about coherence transfer between coupled spins. Nitrogen vacancy centres in diamond have optical addressing, high polarisability and long coherence time. They are good candidates for sensing external fields and for quantum memory. Paul traps for a chain of ions, individually addressed by laser pulses, are described. They have high initialisation and measurement fidelity, and both photon and phonon interactions can be used for logic operations.
