i just got one from the thrift store today, dying 120gb hdd, shot battery, 1gb ddr2 ram, and an amd sempron 3600+ mobile in it. so far, reinstalling xp on a new hdd i have and using a power brick with adapters to power it so i can play my old games with, might see about repasting the heatsink later

Looks like a pretty decent laptop. I love how serviceable older laptops are. You can pretty easily swap out parts without a ton of hassle. Nowadays everything’s gotta be so thin and light, with everything permanently soldered in, and not repairable or upgradeable. I still use modern because it don’t like lugging around a giant laptop and need up-to-date compatibility, but I wish they were more geek-friendly.
