If Jordan left after the 2, and went on to the have the same career only in Adidas, the 1’s (& 2’s to a lesser extent) would still end up being HUGE. It is synonymous with the Air Jordan name, logo and his rookie year when he changed the NBA forever. When big names switch from Nike to Adidas (or Adidas to Nike) it’s the Nike shoes that are more valuable, popular and revered.

Reason the polyurethane midsole is stiffer than how it used to be was because of open-celled PU being phased out. The open-celled PU is softer but would crumble in a few years faster, sacrificing durability, but that's how Jordan wanted his shoes to be like. Be game ready. Nowadays, since the Jordan 4 retros from the early 2000s, the open celled method was dropped in favor for closed cell for the remastered program, which removed any chance of a bit of air bubbles escaping and crease lesser than usual but would feel stiffer.

There's like two versions of this. One designated as Air Jordan 3, 4, 5 then the Flights. Very confusing and gimmicky for the modern person as opposed to those during 1989-92.
