This is necessary for our Catholic faith to grow. St. Alphonsus emphasis the foolish of considering one mortal sin. Would you risk our reputation, your health or your life saving simple to satisfy the desire of a single mortal sin? Of course not. How much more we risk when liberating over serious sin. We risk losing God for all eternity!

Here are some key quotes from todays Lenten Reflection"
"God heals those sinners who have a good will. He pardons their sins, but He cannot pardon their determination to go on sinning"

St. Alphonsus emphasis how foolish it is to consider committing a mortal sin.
"Would you, for such transient enjoyments, risk your money, your honour, your possessions, your liberty, and your life? No; you would not. How, then, does it happen that, for a miserable gratification, you risk your soul, Heaven and God?"

The Lenten season is a penitential time when Catholics are welcome to the Sacrament of Reconciliation. St. Alphonsus urges us not to delay this Sacrament.

"I will go for Confession tomorrow!" Listen to the words of St. Gregory: "He who has promised pardon to penitents, has not promised tomorrow to sinners." God has promised pardon to all who repent; but He has not promised to wait till tomorrow for those who insult Him. Perhaps God will give you time for repentance, but perhaps He will not. But, should He not give it, what shall become of your soul? In the meantime, for the sake of a miserable pleasure, you lose the grace of God, and expose yourself to the danger of being lost forever.

May God bless you on your spiritual journey this Lent 2021.

I honestly hate it when I have cruel thoughts as sins. Or I lie. I want to beat sin. It is so easy for me to fall into the sin of sloth, envy, vanity, self absorption, lust, harboring resentment, etc.

Thank you ken & janelle for your lenten reflection focussing on St Alphonsus. He is also one of my all time favourite, as I wanted to name my first born as Alphonse. It didn't happen though, but I got a confessor named Alphonse. Recently came to know about your channel. Appreciation for your big family

I heard an interesting comment about sin and confessing same sin over and over again... God sees your heart, and he is also seeing you (by going to confession in a humble attitude, truly repenting) that we choose him... CHOOSE HIM (going back to him, COMING HOME as you mention)... is soothing... and makes sense.

Can you please include the day in the title? (You did this for the first 4) It is easier for us to figure out what day we are on.

I think we need to take into consideration addiction and other unwanted attacks by the devil. Many folks are powerless over addictions, it's not that they deliberately choose not to get better. It's a lifelong battle and one can fall time and again into the same mortal sin despite going to confession weekly. Perserverance is the key. How many of us, even with God's grace, are able to stop sinful behavior cold turkey? Not many. And, I know someone who, immediately after going to confession, was tormented with impure thoughts despite the greatest efforts to quell those thoughts. The devil appeared to Padre Peo as a naked woman so as to entice him to lust.

For instance, when some people go to confess their serious sins, they should resolve to change & turn away from sin(s). And if one goes to confess one's same sin over & over in the confessional, he/she is making a bad confession. ❤️👍✌️🦉🙏🙏.

I have a habitual sin I'm trying to conquer through frequent confession (I have a traditional and orthodox confessor), prayer, meditation, spiritual reading and self-denial. Even if I give my computer to someone else for safekeeping, I ALWAYS find a way to get to my sin because I'm in great physical pain. (My confessor calls the sin "the most guttural".) Does anyone have any advice? The last thing I want to do is offend God - at least, when I'm not feeling the pain - but then the pain in my stomach and head come and I just want to get rid of it in desperation.

This is exactly the problem with the Catholic faith😿 Who cares about what some So-called Saint says? All you people talk about is what A saint tells you to do, or what Mary tells you to do. This is idolatry. Why don’t you tell your followers what Jesus says? According to the Catholic faith Jesus died for nothing😿. Religion says “do “, Jesus says “done “
